Your journey toward personal expression and self-discovery has stalled out at a critical crossroads. Stuck in the metaphysical mud, you wonder what a tortured creative soul is supposed to do. If running hasn’t brought you inner peace or your romance novel still isn’t quite coming together, you may be ready to consider the latest method for achieving self-awareness and personal happiness to come to town.
SynergyDance, a therapeutic hybrid of yoga and expressive dance, began in Washington, D.C., in 1987, and has officially added Charlottesville to the growing number of cities in which it is taught.
SynergyDance teaches participants to use their bodies to express energy through movement in their own way. They work with Polarity Therapy as well as the figurative elements of air, fire, water and earth. Set to music, each class typically progresses through three levels of inner exploration, expressive dance and reflective stillness. There are no rules of correct movement in this blend of yoga, craniosacral massage, ancient dance and meditation.
A new age approach to old age wisdom, SynergyDance takes place at Studio 206.
